Housing is at the heart of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and is an integral part of urban development. Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) leverages people-public-private partnerships (PPPP) to facilitate affordable housing delivery in urban settings that contributes towards urban development, integration and systemic change. In this session participants will learn about the benefits of PPPP's in three diverse projects, in three contexts, and in three different continents that range from a comprehensive urban upgrading program in Liberia, to improving energy efficiency of in low-income homes in the Balkans and working with the private-sector to improve housing micro-finance in India. This session is geared towards participants from civil society, public and private sectors who are interested in working in urban areas and gaining a deeper understanding of how they can contribute towards urban development and the delivery of affordable housing. Participants can look forward to an interactive networking session that includes panel presentations, videos, case studies and interactive group sessions. Key messages will include the importance of PPPP's in: creating an enabling environment for affordable housing delivery conducive for investment by many actors; establishing regional/country platforms for practitioners and policy-makers engagement and participation; supporting institutional capacity building for the public, private and community sectors; and designing potential housing finance, products and services that can be replicated in the private sector.
