Urban mobility provides one of the core functions of cities - access to social, cultural and economic opportunities. Delivering safe, clean, affordable and accessible urban mobility for all citizens (in particular, for marginalised groups) is central for successful cities and sustainable urban development and to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals, the New Urban Agenda and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
This event will present latest thinking on urban mobility policy and how urban mobility is contributing to the implementation of the global agreements (SDG´s, New Urban Agenda and the Paris Agreement).
The event will demonstrate how sustainable mobility is an essential building block of sustainable urban development and help cities understand the global context of work on urban mobility. It will highlight examples of how cities in Developing Countries are delivering sustainable mobility and explain how cities can access the range of resources available to support local efforts to deliver sustainable urban mobility.
The target group is cities and urban policy makers wishing to gain an overview of developments in sustainable urban mobility implementation to inform their work at the local level.
The event is one of a series of events to demonstrate and promote the contribution of sustainable urban mobility to delivering on the global sustainable development agreements and is being prepared and delivered on behalf of the 90 global members of our Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT).
