In May 2017, the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) of the State of Sinaloa, Mexico, assumed the commitment of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda in the State of Sinaloa, which coincide with the framework of technical competencies of SEDESU. The objective of the event is to present this experience of implementation of both Agendas at a subnational level, the results obtained so far, as well as the process of cooperation with the Municipal Planning Institute of Culiacan (IMPLAN Culiacan), in charge of local-level urban planning in the state´s capital city. The implementation of the mentioned project has three phases: a) Development of a Territorial and Urban Public Policy Strategy; b) Capacity Building activities; and c) Operationalization of Projects. The phases follow a sequential order that allows the articulation between the activities and the performance of each of them, the identification of specific strengths and weaknesses in each link and the generation of a framework of synergistic and practical collaboration which have proved to be particularly valuable when working with local authorities such as the IMPLAN.
