The Side Event aims to bring together a group of professionals of great relevance for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda: judges and magistrates who are responsible for interpreting and applying laws in cities. The purpose of the event is to analyze and specifically discuss the role of the courts in guaranteeing the application of the contents of the New Urban Agenda; What are the main challenges? The opportunities faced by judges and courts to apply urban legislation and the contents of the New Urban Agenda adopted in Habitat III. What will be the role of international treaties when judges resolve urban conflicts? What gaps and contradictions does the urban legal framework have that hamper urban justice? What specific cases can be relevant to generate criteria and protocols of judicial action in urban cases? The principles that would give content to the implementation of protocols for the administration of justice derived from the New Urban Agenda.
