José A. Carrera is Corporate Vice President of Social Development and the Environment of CAF-Development Bank of Latin America. In his current role, he is responsible for the strategy, policy development and financing of social development projects in the areas of water and sanitation, urban development, education, resilience, environment and climate change. At the international level he collaborates as Governor of the World Water Council and as a member of the Scientific Program Committee of the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Previously, he was the Country Representative of CAF in Bolivia. In Ecuador, his native country, he also served as Vice-Minister of Economy and Finance and Alternate Governor of Ecuador to the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. Mr. Carrera is an Economist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, USA.
