National Director


Bernadette is currently the National Director of Habitat for Humanity Cambodia. Before this, she was the Head of International Program unit in Habitat for Humanity Australia. She has over 30 years of experience in the development and aid sector in developing countries within the Asia-Pacific region.

Bernadette has extensively worked on urban poor housing development and slum upgrading in the Philippines and Cambodia for over 20 years. Her expertise is community organizing to improve poor urban communities, to develop alternatives to evictions and distant relocations, i.e., slum upgrading, land sharing, settlement planning and on-site development. Also, her most recent experiences involve projects that strengthen civil society and government engagement in land tenure projects. Apart from her involvement with the urban community, she has extensive experience in community-led development processes on various rural development activities in WASH linking rural and urban areas, and community-led disaster mitigation projects in the Asia Pacific.

Bernadette holds master degrees in Urban and Regional Planning as well as in Organization Development.
